War in Iran has stranded and confused travelers at Kennedy Airport as airspace closures impact global flights. The check-in counters at Kennedy’s Terminal 4, where flights typically depart for Qatar Airways, Etihad, and El Al, were deserted on Sunday morning with no passengers in line and no airline staff awaiting customers. Air India’s flights to Delhi and Mumbai were also canceled due to the need to fly over Iraqi and Iranian airspaces. Some passengers, however, were waiting in Terminal 8, unsure when they could get on their way. Grace Love, 33, who had flown in from Charlotte, North Carolina, and was supposed to connect on a flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for vacation, was stranded and confused. Ronald Bustria, 39, who left Turks and Caicos to visit his home country, the Philippines, was also stranded after his Qatar Airways flight turned around after four hours. These travelers were among the hundreds of thousands worldwide who have been stranded across the Middle East after airports were shut down and airspaces closed. Another traveler, Harish Primlani, 56, was resigned to a second unplanned night in Queens, as his trip from Trinidad to Chennai, India, was impacted. With no clear resolution in sight, these stranded travelers are left hoping for good news.
